Inter defender Stefan de Vrij discussed the upcoming derby against AC Milan in an interview with Italian broadcaster InterTV before the game.

“We are very ready, we prepared it well even if we did not have much time. We are prepared.”

He spoke about how the Rossoneri have a strong defense, whilst the Nerazzurri have one of the strongest attacks in the league currently.

“It will be a good challenge for both of us. Milan are good, they are strong, it will be a good match.”

De Vrij commented on how he was awarded the best defender of last season and if it was a special prize for him.

“True, but for me the only thought is about the match now. I am focused on doing well today.”

The Dutchman spoke about how it won’t be an individual battle when speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sports Italia.

“It is not an individual duel, but a challenge between two teams. We will try to make a great match and win.”

Finally, De Vrij spoke about whether it was hard to approach the game considering the absences due to Covid-19.

The 28-year-old De Vrij, who is contracted to the Nerazzurri until 2023, has been one of coach Antonio Conte’s strongest defenders since his arrival in Milan last year.

The Dutchman ensured that the Milanese club the second lowest amount last season. The player made 46 appearances across all competitions, for a total of 3906 minutes.

In that time, De Vrij scored four goals and provided five assists, as well as helping the squad keep 14 clean sheets.

He has already made two appearances this season.
