Rennes coach Julien Stéphan spoke about Inter owned left back Henrique Dalbert when speaking to gathered reporters in a press conference yesterday. His words were noted by French media outlet Ouest France.
“We will have to be cautious about the number of new players we play. Today there were a lot of uncertainties, disqualified, players who returned late from their national team commitments.
“In the next matches we will have to integrate them gradually, a puzzle is difficult to assemble. You have to assemble the right parts at the right time in the right conditions.”
The 27-year-old Dalbert, who is contracted to the Nerazzurri until 2023, joined the Ligue 1 side on loan earlier this month, with a buy option attached.
The player made his Rennes debut yesterday, starting and playing the full 90 minutes in a 1-1 draw against Dijon.
Dalbert was clearly not included in coach Antonio Conte’s project or plans at the club. Last season he was swiftly sent out on loan to fellow Italian side Fiorentina, where he provided nine assists in 34 appearances across all competitions.
Fiorentina were interested in keeping the player on loan again, but would not look to repeat the deal that saw Cristiano Biraghi join Inter on loan, and so the Nerazzurri pulled out of talks.
