Former Inter defender turned football pundit Daniele ‘Lele’ Adani has come to the defence of Inter defender Aleksandar Kolarov following his poor start to life in a Nerazzurri shirt.

Kolarov was one of Inter’s Summer transfer window recruits but unlike Achraf Hakimi and Arturo Vidal, who have both impressed, Kolarov has struggled to convince with his performances and been at fault for several of the eight goals Inter have conceded in their opening four league matches.

“We wondered how Diego Godin could adapt to Conte’s system. Now one wonders why Kolarov should play as a centre back but anyone can do anything, the season is still long,” Adani began an interview with Italian radio station Radio Deejay, which was broadcast earlier on today.

“Obviously Kolarov is a full back and has more of an inclination to build, but Kolarov can make a mistake just like others can.”

In conclusion Adani spoke on the player who gave him the greatest nightmares during his playing days: “Ronaldo did things never seen before in that era, with quality, speed and technique.”

Adani spent two years of his 20 year playing career with Inter between the Summer of 2002 and Summer of 2004. In his two year spell with Inter, the former Italian national team player made 45 appearances across all competitions, in which he scored five goals.
