Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Mateus Cardoso Lemos Martins, commonly known as just Tete, has admitted that he is aware that he and his teammates are in for a difficult match when they come up against Inter next week.

The Ukrainian powerhouses are to play host to Inter in the second round of Champions League group stage action on Tuesday evening and will be full of confidence having surprisingly beaten 13 time Champions League winners Real Madrid 3-2 away from home in their Champions League group stage opener.

“Beating Real Madrid here in Madrid is great. I’ve always dreamed of playing against them,” the Brazilian under 20 national team representative explained following the match against Los Blancos at the Alfredo Di Stefano stadium, as quoted by Italian news outlet FCInterNews.it.

“I used to play video games with them and now I play against them, I’m very happy to have played and also scored. The goal makes me very happy, now we have to keep working harder.”

He then went on to add: “We have to celebrate, but we must not forget that our group is extremely complicated and next Tuesday we will have another very difficult match.

“We know how hard it will be to face Inter. They have a team with many qualities, but we showed the strength of our team and we will be ready for the match.”

This season the 20-year-old, who joined Shakhtar Donetsk from Gremio in February 2019, has made eight appearances across all competitions.

In his time on the park, which totals 359 minutes, Tete has scored one goal and provided a total of three assists for his teammates.
