Nerazzurri legend Evaristo Beccalossi discussed Inter’s season so far and their involvement in the title race in an interview with Italian radio broadcaster RadioUno yesterday.
“I believe that for Inter, they have the chance to fight to win the league title, because Conte is in his second year and the squad is competitive.”
He highlighted how the extraordinary circumstances of the season and the Covid-19 pandemic could have an effect on not only Inter, but all teams in Serie A this campaign.
“A judgement will be made at the end of the season, after a difficult road. This situation of emergency and concern, together with the fact that we have been playing for several months without fans, has a dramatic effect.
“Those who are on the pitch want to hear the San Siro and the push that comes from the public, but this is also true for the other teams.”
Inter are currently third in the league table after five games, sitting on 10 points. Antonio Conte’s side are two points behind rivals and league leaders AC Milan, who can extend their lead with a win over Roma tonight.
The Nerazzurri’s next commitment is their second game of the Champions League group stage against Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk, who won their first game in the competition away to Real Madrid 3-2 last week.
The Milanese club will be looking for a vital three points in tomorrow’s game, as a loss to the Ukrainian side could jeopardize their ability to reach the knockout stages of the competition.
