Inter are not exactly one of the most protected teams by referees in Serie A according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Corriere della Sera.
In this past weekend’s 2-0 win over Genoa, Inter could have scored even sooner than they did had referee Davide Massa awarded the Nerazzurri a penalty for Mattia Bani’s foul on Romelu Lukaku rather than wave calls for a penalty away like he did.
The report from the Milanese based news outlet goes on to explain that referees are not too tender with the Nerazzurri.
Although not mentioned in this report, Inter were also denied another penalty in the match at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.
One of Inter wing-back Ivan Perisic’s crosses was handballed by Genoa defender Paolo Ghiglione but Antonio Conte’s Nerazzurri side were not given a penalty for this either.
Despite not getting two penalties in the match, Inter got the win and are up to fourth place in the Serie A standings.
