Lionel Messi could ask Barcelona’s next president for a gift in order to sign a new contract with the club according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Tuttosport.

The multi-time world player of the year’s contract with the Blaugrana club is due to expire at the end of the season and this report claims that Messi could ask for Inter striker and compatriot Lautaro Martinez to be signed and if this happens then he will sign a contract with the club for life.

Lautaro currently only has a value against Inter’s balance sheet of €10 million therefore Inter could make a capital gain in excess of €100 million if his €111 million release clause is triggered, something which is particularly comforting to the club, especially at this time given the impact of COVID-19 on the club’s finances.

This season Lautaro, who is contracted to Inter until 2023, has made seven appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored three goals and provided a single assist for his teammates.
