Inter’s increased defensive solidity is due in part to the fact Inter have almost a full strength defence again according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Tuttosport.
Inter have kept clean sheets in each of their past two games across all competitions to date and the clean sheets have come after starting the season with five consecutive matches without a clean sheet.
In the past two matches Inter have been able to play 75% of their strongest defence with Samir Handanovic in goal and both Stefan de Vrij and Alessandro Bastoni at the back.
This newfound solidity can only please manager Antonio Conte as he awaits the recovery of the other starter, Milan Skriniar, who is still positive for COVID-19.
The report goes on to add that the return of Ashley Young is also helpful for Inter’s defensive solidity due to him being better in the non-possession phase than Ivan Perisic and he provides more balance.
