Former Italian referee Luca Marelli discussed the decision not to give Inter forward Ivan Perisic a penalty and the lack of VAR usage when speaking on his YouTube channel earlier tonight.
“In case the referee is watching the moment VAR does not intervene. Errors on the pitch remain. There is an objective problem and there is some confusion, so I partially agree with Marotta.”
He highlighted how VAR has been used rarely so far this season, creating some confusion.
“Tonight, Piccinini made a very serious mistake with Perisic’s penalty. On Vidal we can discuss whether there was contact between the two and that should be reviewed.
“VAR was used seven times in five days and two games, too little.”
Inter dominated their match against Parma, having 25 shots compared to the Gialloblu’s five. Despite that, the Emilian side were 2-0 up after 62 minutes, before substitute Marcelo Brozovic brought one back.
Croatian forward Ivan Perisic, who spent last season on loan with Bayern Munich where he won the Treble, scored the equaliser in the dying minutes of the game, securing a vital point for the Milanese club.
Inter are still fifth in the league table after six games but could drop further down the table depending on tomorrow’s results.
The Nerazzurri’s next game is against Spanish giants Real Madrid in the Champions League next week, a vital game considering Antonio Conte’s side still haven’t won a game in the competition so far.
