Former Inter defender Massimo Paganin discussed the Nerazzurri’s tough 2-2 draw against Parma yesterday in an interview with Italian radio broadcaster Radio 24 on the show ‘Tutti Convocati’ earlier today.

“Yesterday there were two individual mistakes by Stefan de Vrij who was the best defender last season. However, the team is changing and growing, although it is true that maybe they are lagging behind other teams.”

He spoke about Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen and his struggles in making an impact for coach Antonio Conte.

“Antonio Conte is giving opportunities to Christian Eriksen, who is not using them. Looking at him from the outside you can see that he is not able to affect the game.”

Finally, Paganin spoke about Argentine striker Lautaro Martinez, who again failed to score or provide an assist against the Gialloblu yesterday.

“Lautaro Martinez is Lukaku-dependent, he is good at moving around the Belgian. He has to create spaces for himself. He’s doing well and he’s 23 years old, even if it’s time to make that leap of quality that is expected.

“If you are an important player, they expect more from you and from this point of view he has to grow up because there is no time in football.”

The 23-year-old Lautaro, who is contracted to the Nerazzurri until 2023, started the season well, scoring three goals in the first three games of the season, as well as providing one assist.

Since then the player’s form has dipped, and he has not scored in the last five consecutive games, appearing frustrated and unsure of himself.

Lautaro will have the opportunity to be the protagonist for Inter on Tuesday next week, when the club face Spanish giants Real Madrid in the Champions League. Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku will again not be available.
