Former Inter striker Christian Vieri discussed the Nerazzurri’s tough 2-2 draw against Parma on Saturday when speaking with former player and pundit Daniele Adani on Instagram yesterday. His words were noted by Italian media outlet FcInterNews.
“Inter are strong, there is also Radja Nainggolan who I would like to see play more. Then there is Arturo Vidal, Stefano Sensi who has a muscle problem. They are strong, they have quality. They just need time.”
He highlighted how the Milanese club do not have enough offensive options, especially considering the lack of backup for 27-year-old Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku.
“There is no center forward to be Romelu Lukaku’s backup, I would always put four or five strikers in the squad to try to win Champions League and the league. If Lukaku is missing, they have to play another one in his place.”
Finally, Vieri again reiterated the importance of signing a backup for Lukaku and how the team’s form will turn around, especially considering their ambitions this season.
“You have to have another center forward like Lukaku who can replace him when he is not there. Ivan Perisic up front is not good enough.
“Anyway, sooner or later the team will turn around. Now there are new pressures, this year they are playing to win the Scudetto, so there is more pressure.”
Inter have disappointed in recent weeks, earning three draws in their last four games across all competitions. Antonio Conte’s side will need to bounce back ahead of their next game against Spanish giants Real Madrid in the Champions League tomorrow.
The Nerazzurri have drawn their first two games in the competition and so a win is vital against Zinedine Zidane’s side in order to secure a better position in the group.
