Legendary Inter central midfielder Esteban Cambiasso has shared his belief that it was thanks to their substitutes that Real Madrid manager to beat Inter in last night’s Champions League group stage match.

Real Madrid took a 2-0 lead over Inter but Antonio Conte’s side managed to recover thanks to goals from Lautaro Martinez and Ivan Perisic. The Nerazzurri had chances to take the lead but failed to do so and were made to pay for their missed chances as Rodyrgo scored a late winner for Los Blancos.

“Unfortunately, two substitutes made the winning goal, Inter changed players like for like, I don’t think they got worse with their substitutions, but Real had another level to go when scoring 3-2,” Cambiasso explained whilst in the studios of Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia following the match at the Alfredo Di Stefano stadium.

He proceeded to point out that Real Madrid are used to playing in such games, unlike this current Inter side.

“All week Real Madrid talked about this match as a final, let’s say that the habit of playing in these games is different for them, the Spaniards are more used to playing games like that, Inter are still not used to them.”

In conclusion he sang the praises of Real Madrid’s Sergio Ramos, who netted his 100th goal in a Real Madrid shirt as he headed home the hosts second goal: “The player who must be marked continues to score and I am referring to Sergio Ramos, he makes the difference as a striker, if you score a hundred goals it is never by chance.”
