Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio discussed Inter’s cagey 1-1 draw with Gian Piero Gasperini’s Atalanta when speaking with Italian broadcaster Sky Sports Italia earlier today.
First, he commented on how new signing Achraf Hakimi has been used sparingly by coach Antonio Conte.
“Yes, he played Darmian but he did well when he was deployed. I don’t think Conte wanted to punish the Moroccan after the Champions League game, with him surely Inter would have been more attacking.
“Once again the goal was not left untouched.”
He also commented on how the Milanese club have started the season incredibly poorly by their standards, especially when compared to last campaign.
“But the most worrying fact is that there have been three wins in 10 games so far this season across all competitions and it’s been a long time that results were not like this at the Nerazzurri.”
Inter are currently seventh now in the Serie A table after seven games, sitting on 12 points, four behind league leaders and rivals AC Milan, who play Hellas Verona this evening.
Antonio Conte’s side have won only one of their last five league games, and have not achieved a win yet in the Champions League, frustrating the 51-year-old Italian coach.
The Milanese club are now bottom of their Champions League group and must look to win the remaining games if they want to progress to the next round.
