Real Madrid will have to do without central midfielder Federico Valverde for at least the next month according to a report from the online edition of Spanish news outlet AS.com.

In the 4-1 loss to Valencia over the weekend, Valverde suffered a fissure in the posterior tibial spine of his right leg and the injury will keep him off the pitch for at least the next month. Depending on the depth of the fissure he could be out for a month and a half or maybe even two months.

Valverde will miss the matches against Villarreal, Inter, Alavés, Shakhtar Donetsk, Sevilla and Borussia Mönchengladbach and is also a strong doubt to be available for the match against Atletico Madrid in mid December as well.

Valverde’s injury comes as a big blow to Los Blancos who have lost an important player in their starting line-up and one of their joint second highest goalscorers this season with only Karim Benzema having scored more than the three goals that he, Vinicius Junior and Sergio Ramos have.
