Inter are hoping that Croatian midfielder Marcelo Brozovic will be able to play against Spanish side Real Madrid in the Champions League in 11 days, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The report details how the 27-year-old Croatian midfielder, who is contracted to the Nerazzurri until 2022, tested positive for Covid-19 last night, forcing him to miss today’s clash with Sweden.

Brozovic was the only member of the squad to test positive, in a team that includes Inter’s Ivan Perisic, but other cases could crop up over the coming days.

The Nerazzurri are apprehensive about the situation and are in close contact the Croatian doctor, who is also the head of the Covid Commission at UEFA. The 27-year-old Croatian midfielder is the eight Inter player to test positive for the contagion.

Brozovic is unable to feature against Torino on the 22nd November, but could appear against Real Madrid in the vital Champions League clash the following week, if the 10 days of quarantine are enough.

Both Roberto Gagliardini and Radja Nainggolan are ready to fill in for the Croatian.
