Inter midfielder Roberto Gagliardini will undergo a new Covid-19 test tomorrow, after yesterday’s inconclusive test results, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.
The report details how the 26-year-old Italian midfielder, who is contracted to the Nerazzurri until 2023, was sent home from the Azzurri camp yesterday after his Covid-19 test results came back inconclusive.
The former Atalanta man caught the virus last month and has since recovered, but he could be part of the 20% of people who temporarily retained some harmless viral debris in his nose and throat.
Because of this, the Covid-19 test results can be extremely unclear, the report continues, and so the FIGC sent him home as a precaution.
Gagliardini will undergo a new Covid test in Milan tomorrow, and if it returns negative then he could immediately return to the squad.
The 26-year-old featured against Atalanta just before the international break, after testing negative for the virus.
