Italian journalist Niccolò Ceccarini discussed the current position of Inter midfielder Christian Eriksen and what clubs he could potentially join in the upcoming January transfer window in an editorial for TuttoMercatoWeb yesterday.

“By now it’s increasingly likely that in January the Danish trequartista will leave Inter. It will be understood if the deal is a loan or a definitive sale. The first is easier, since not too many teams out there can make such an investment.

“Eriksen likes the idea of playing in the Premier League again and a resounding return to Tottenham cannot be excluded. Remember that PSG and Borussia Dortmund were also interested in him, United also asked about him.”

The 28-year-old Eriksen, who is contracted to the Nerazzurri until 2024, again expressed his unhappiness at the lack of playing time that he’s received under coach Antonio Conte when speaking to the media earlier this week.

The former Tottenham player previously expressed his discontent to the media in the last international break, frustrating the Milanese club greatly.

Inter are now prepared to sell him in the upcoming January transfer window and may even lower their demands to around €30-35 million, in order to offload him more easily.

Eriksen earns around €7.5 million, which could rise to close to €10 million through add-ons, incredibly high wages for a player who has not convinced Conte.

He has not scored or assisted in seven appearances so far this season.
