Genoa sporting director Daniele Faggiano has claimed that young midfielder Nicolo Rovella’s desire is to stay at the Rossoblu club.
Rovella is having a breakthrough season at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris and has earned rave reviews for his performances which have also led to several clubs sparking an interest in signing him including Inter, AC Milan, Juventus and Roma, as per various media reports.
Rovella’s contract is due to expire at the end of this season but reports have stated that Genoa are in talks with Rovella’s representatives to extend his contract with them.
“We must acknowledge Rolando Maran, who sent him on the pitch without any ulterior motive. It would be easy to say that we knew his contract would expire,” Faggiano explained in an interview with Italian television station TELENORD, earlier on today.
He went on to add: “It’s a delicate situation. Together with the administrator Alessandro Zarbano, we are working to find an agreement in order to avoid the squandering of a great Genoa heritage.
“Rovella’s desire to stay with us is important and, I think, that among intelligent people we will find a solution. If we manage to keep him until June and if there are offers from important clubs, then it could also end well.”
Rovella, who is already part of the Italy under 21 national team set-up despite only being 18-years-old, has made a total of five appearances across all competitions to date. In his time on the park he has however been unable to make any goal contributions.
