Cagliari goalkeeper Alessio Cragno’s agent Graziano Battistini has admitted that it is too early to talk about recent media speculation concerning his client, who has been linked with many clubs including Inter.
“One thing must be premised. The season has just begun and there is a whole year ahead. So it’s premature to talk about certain things right now,” he explained in an interview with Italian news outlet FCInterNews.it.
“We must always remember that Cragno defends the goal of a historic club, with important goals and Alessio is at the centre of the project. It is a source of pride and enthusiasm to continue this path.
“It is clear that if certain dynamics come into play, then at that point many things should be evaluated. Without forgetting that the player is showing, and has already shown, that he deserves and can play for an important club.”
Asked whether a January transfer window exit from the Rossoblu can be excluded, Battistini simply responded: “Sure.”
Battistini was then asked whether his client would be prepared to fight for a starting shirt or if he would want to be at a club here he is guaranteed to be the starter should an offer from a top club arrive.
“To get to certain levels you always have to win challenges. For him, questioning himself has never been a problem. Everything then depends on many factors. There are several evaluations to take into consideration.
“So in the specific case of his question, whether or not he would go to Inter to fight Handanovic for the starting position, it is difficult to answer.
“There would always be a lame answer but I don’t feel like doing it. Let’s say that it is always nice to be linked with a world class club like Inter. This is obvious. All situations are to be verified and analysed. It is important to dot the i’s.”
Battistini was then asked if his client has a value of €25 million but he was quick to point out that it is Cagliari who need to be asked about his price: “You have to ask Cagliari, it wouldn’t be fair if I answered you”.
In conclusion he was asked whether he can confirm the rumours of recent months which have seen his client linked with a whole array of top clubs.
“The contacts are always there. We talk about many things, even on an informal level. To say that there is a specific chat, in a certain way, however, is premature.
“It wouldn’t be fair. Cragno is respected nationally and internationally, let’s stop here and I underline that he is proud and motivated to be a protagonist in the Cagliari project.”
