Inter striker Romelu Lukaku has shared his delight after scoring a brace in Belgium’s 4-2 UEFA Nations League win over Denmark last night.

Lukaku scored Belgium’s second and third goals against Inter teammate Christian Eriksen’s Denmark and the win secured Belgium their spot in the final four of the UEFA Nations League alongside fellow European heavyweights Italy, France and Spain.

“Obviously as a striker you just want to put the ball in the back of the net,” he began an interview with the gathered media post match as quoted by Italian news outlet FCInterNews.it.

“The cross for my second goal was really good and I managed to get in front of the defender and score with my head. It was a great goal, I was really happy with it. Sometimes to win, you need to be a little aggressive, and we were.”

He then went on to reflect on the last UEFA Nations League where they came close to reaching the same stage and stresses his and his teammates delight at reaching the final four.

“Last time we were close to qualifying, but we lost pretty hard against Switzerland. We knew that one point would be enough, but we didn’t want to risk it and we won. We are really happy about it.”

Lukaku, who joined Inter in the Summer of 2019 in a club record transfer from Manchester United, has made eight appearances across all competitions to date.

The former Chelsea player has scored seven goals in little over 600 minutes in total on the field.
