Real Madrid have confirmed that striker Luka Jovic has tested positive for COVID-19 today via an official statement posted on their club website.
As a result of testing positive, the Serbian national team player will have to self isolate and he will miss this weekend’s league match versus Villarreal as well as next week’s Champions League group stage encounter away to Inter.
Jovic’s COVID-19 test is just the latest blow that Real Madrid have suffered in the past few days with them also having to do without club captain Sergio Ramos for the next few matches that they will place due to a hamstring injury picked up on national team duty.
22-year-old Jovic has found playing time limited this term with him having only made five appearances across all competitions to date. The former Eintracht Frankfurt player has failed to make any goal contributions in his time on the park, which totals just over 200 minutes.
