Roma Full Back Leonardo Spinazzola: “Juventus & Inter Best Equipped For The Title Race”

Roma full back Leonardo Spinazzola discussed his failed move to Inter, the Covid-19 pandemic and the ongoing Serie A season in an interview in today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

First, he touched on whether it was difficult to get in the squad with Aleksandar Kolarov present.

“I don’t think so. He took away my spot only in the first part of the season, but after the break things had changed.”

The Italian was not too concerned about his failed move to the Nerazzurri in the January transfer window.

“These things happen, it is the past. Since then, however, mentally I feel freer.”

He did not know what he had in common with Brazilian footballing legend Garrincha

“I don’t know him, I grew up with Ronaldo the Phenomenon, but I know who Maradona was. I have to find out about Garrincha.”

Spinazzola spoke about how it feels to play out this season during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Thanks to Roma, we are super controlled. So, it’s a real season, because the virus affects everyone. Of course, we also need a little more luck.”

The Italian full back commented on how the players take regular Covid-19 tests, something not done particularly by the general public.

“Sure, we are privileged, but you have to do this or else everything stops. Instead we like to give people happiness.”

The Roma full back was not sure who would win the league title this season.

“Impossible to say. Juve and Inter are the best equipped, but now our squad that is growing.”

He touched on the Giallorossi’s goals this season and if they could win the Scudetto.

“We hope so, but our goal is to return to the Champions League.”

Finally, Spinazzola discussed if Italy could look to win next summer’s European Championships.

“Now we are fighting with the best. We have a great squad and Mancini gave us important ideas.”
