Former AC Milan defender Alessandro Costacurta has hit out at Inter central midfielder Arturo Vidal following Inter’s 2-0 defeat to Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League group stage on Wednesday night.
Vidal had a night to forget against Los Blancos as he lasted just 33 minutes on the field. After going down in the box, the Chilean national team player was absolutely adamant that he should have had a penalty and made his feelings known to referee Anthony Taylor.
Taylor booked Vidal for his complaints and would book him again seconds later for dissent and a red card then followed which put Inter into even more difficulty than they already were.
His sending off was just the latest negative note in his spell at the Nerazzurri thus far where he has failed to perform to expectations.
“It was the worst defeat, Real lacked important players. Vidal was a negative protagonist, he negatively influenced Inter’s journey,” Costacurta explained whilst present in the studios of Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, earlier on today.
He then went on to add: “It was a disappointing game, Real were missing three important players. Inter must be more aggressive, I thought they could go through.”
