Former Real Madrid manager Fabio Capello has shared his belief that Inter could have done more against his former employers on Wednesday night in the UEFA Champions League group stage.
Real Madrid were missing out on several key players but still managed to come away from San Siro with all three points after winning 2-0 thanks to goals from Eden Hazard and Rodrygo.
Inter are sitting bottom of group B after four games played with them having just two points to their name.
“Inter started badly and without determination, in the first half they were always in difficulty. Inter had three defenders against one attacker and in the middle they were inferior,” he explained in the studios of Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, following on from the match.
The former England national team boss, who last managed Chinese Super League side Jiangsu Suning, then spoke on how things changed for Inter in the second half when they changed their system.
“In the second half with four defenders I liked Inter more. Against this mediocre Real Madrid, Inter could have done more.”
In conclusion he hit out at two players for their performances in the match and suggested that Inter manager Antonio Conte should maybe change the system he is using.
“Lukaku was not a driving force and Vidal’s error is not admissible. If the team doesn’t work like this, maybe it’s time to change the tactical system.”
