Inter manager Antonio Conte has stressed that there is a lot of work to be done following their defeat to Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League group stage last night.

The Nerazzurri club fell to a 2-0 defeat at home to the 13 time Champions League winners and have left themselves in a very complicated situation in the group ahead of the final two group stage matches.

Inter must win both of their matches to stand any chance of qualification and need some results to go in their favour as well.

“There is a lot of work to be done, but if I don’t eat the panettone, you can see that I will not have deserved it. If the squad is rooting against me? This is a stupid question,” he explained in an interview with Italian television show ‘Striscia la Notizia’ correspondent Valerio Staffelli upon being handed the ‘Tapir d’Oro’ – an award given following disappointmenta and missed expectations.

Conte is into his second year in charge of Inter and has come in for some criticism lately due to the way that Inter have started this season. Inter are currently on a run of just two wins in their last 10 games.
