Former Inter manager Ottavio Bianchi has admitted to being unsure what the meaning of Antonio Conte’s Inter side is and shared his ideas as to what he thinks Conte wants to see from his Nerazzurri team, who have left a lot to be desired with their performances this term.
“Honestly I don’t know what ‘Conte’s Inter’ means. I think that Antonio, like all coaches, wants a vigorous, aggressive and well-disposed team on the pitch,” Bianchi explained in an interview, as quoted by Italian news outlet FCInterNews.it.
“It’s clear that in some moments of the season things don’t succeed. I think Conte’s Inter is the muscular one, the one that wins.”
Bianchi then sided with Inter manager Antonio Conte for his recent treatment of struggling Christian Eriksen and questioned why Inter even bothered signing the Danish national team attacking midfielder in the first place.
“I’m always for the coach, I know how many difficulties there are in managing a team. If Conte decides that Eriksen is invalid, I agree with Conte but then I wonder why did they buy him? At such a cost, you need to know every detail about a particular player.”
Bianchi managed Inter between July 1994 and September of the following year. He managed Inter in 49 matches across all competitions during his time in charge of the club. He won 22, drew 12 and lost the remaining 15.
The now 77-year-old also had stints in charge of the likes of Fiorentina, Roma and Napoli during his management career.
