Legendary Inter striker Hernan Crespo has taken to photo sharing social media platform Instagram to pay tribute to late compatriot Diego Armando Maradona, who recently passed away aged just 60.
Crespo, who had multiple spells with Inter during his playing career, has shared an image of himself and the former Napoli player and has accompanied the image with a heartfelt tribute to Maradona, who is widely regarded a one of, if not the best footballers of all time.
Crespo posted: “He was my inspiration, he allowed me to dream about football. Diego accompanied me throughout my life. Since I was a kid in school, I lined all my folders with his photos, I dreamed of one day playing in the national team, I dreamed of meeting him.
“And I had the immense privilege, not only of meeting him, but also of sharing many moments, sharing trips, and so many more things, a thousand anecdotes that I have and carry in my heart.
“He taught me the love for the Argentina shirt, the passion for the national team, he transmitted to me the love for Italy, Napoli, and I experienced first hand the love he felt there. Diego was my Inspiration, my football guide, my idol, my engine to dream the career that I forged. Goodbye Diego, always in my heart.”
