Inter coach Antonio Conte paid tribute to Argentinian football legend Diego Maradona with a post on his Instagram page yesterday.
The former Napoli forward, who carried the Partenopei to two league titles amongst other honours in the 1980’s and 90’s, passed away earlier this week aged 60.
Tributes and memories have come pouring out from across the footballing world for Maradona, who is widely considered to be one of the best players of all time.
The Argentinian was a national hero for his exploits with the national team, where he won the FIFA World Cup in 1986.
Managers across the world have also found themselves tearful when remembering Maradona, with blurry eyes seen from Everton’s Carlo Ancelotti and Tottenham’s Jose Mourinho in the Premier League yesterday.
Maradona had spent the last few years coaching in the UAE, Mexico and Argentina.
Conte paid tribute to Maradona in an Instagram post, saying:
“Today we gave the last goodbye on the pitch to a Great Champion. Maradona was pure poetry! I had the pleasure of playing against him and marking him, I can’t believe he’s gone. We will miss you, Diego.”
