Dutch referee Danny Makkelie will oversee Inter’s Champions League clash against Borussia Monchengladbach next week, according to a report from Italian media outlet FcInterNews earlier today.

The report details how the 37-year-old Dutch referee will officiate the European clash next week, a must win game for the Milanese club if they want any hope of progressing to the next round of the competition.

Makkelie was the referee in charge of the Nerazzurri’s painful 3-2 Europa League final loss to Sevilla last season, as well as the Milanese club’s 3-2 loss to Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League group stage.

He will be assisted by compatriots Mario Diks and Hessel Steegstra. In the VAR room there will be Kevin Blom and Jochem Kamphuis. The fourth official is Slovakian official Ivan Kruzliak.

Makkelie has overseen 15 games across all competitions so far this season, giving 60 yellow cards, three second yellow cards, two red cards and 10 penalties.
