Inter coach Antonio Conte defended himself in interviews yesterday to the media, after the Nerazzurri’s 3-0 win over Sassuolo, and this shocked the Milanese club’s management, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The report details how the 51-year-old Italian coach felt like was he at the centre of the criticism over the last week, following on from the Nerazzurri’s painful Champions League defeat to Real Madrid.

The former Juventus and Chelsea coach referred to his comments made last season, after the game against Atalanta and the Europa League final, and reiterated how he was not alone at the club, not wanting to face all the criticism by himself.

His comments surprised Inter’s management, the report continues, considering that president Steven Zhang and the management had highlighted their support of the coach in a shareholders meeting earlier this week.

The win puts Inter second in the league table after nine games.
