Inter trio Stefan de Vrij, Nicolo Barella and Romelu Lukaku are on the shortlist for the UEFA team of the year for 2020.
de Vrij is one of 15 defenders in the running to be included in the team and is on the defenders shortlist with Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk, Juventus’ Matthijs de Ligt and Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich among others.
Barella is meanwhile one of 15 on the midfield shortlist. The Italian national team player who has grown exponentially in the past year or so is in competition with Manchester City’s Kevin de Bruyne, Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes and Liverpool’s Thiago Alcantara.
Lukaku is one of 15 attackers in the running. The likes of Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland, Juventus’ Cristiano Ronaldo and Barcelona’s Lionel Messi are all on the attackers shortlist.
Fans can vote for their UEFA team of the year for 2020 via the UEFA website and have the option of several different formations to choose from as well as a total of 50 players.
