Legendary AC Milan defender Alessandro Costacurta has shared his belief that last night’s UEFA Champions League group stage win for Inter over Borussia Monchengladbach is proof that they are a solid team.
Inter headed into the match having to win in order to stand any chance of playing for qualification to the knockout stages on the final match day and they went on to record a 3-2 win at Borussia Park thanks to a goal from Matteo Darmian and a brace from Romelu Lukaku.
“The Nerazzurri are not yet levelling up. When you concede two goals, this creates difficulties when it comes to achieving victory,” he explained whilst he was a guest on Italian broadcaster Sky Sport 24 show 5×5 earlier on today.
“However, scoring three goals in Germany is a sign that Inter are proving to be a solid team. The script followed by the Nerazzurri follows the match played against Sassuolo, they were both games in which Inter played well, finding the right balance.”
Inter head into next week’s group stage finale with Shakhtar Donetsk knowing that they must win to have a chance of making it into the knockout stage. If Inter win and Real Madrid and Borussia Monchengladbach does not end in a draw then the Nerazzurri will make it into the next round.
