Noted Italian football journalist Paolo Condo has shared his belief that matches like last night’s UEFA Champions League group stage clash away to Borussia Monchengladbach are ones that can make Inter’s players grow.
The Nerazzurri ran out 3-2 winners at Borussia Park thanks to a goal from Matteo Darmian and a brace from Romelu Lukaku and this result means that Inter have a chance of making it through to the next round of the competition.
In order to make it through, Inter have to win and must hope that the other match in the group stage between Real Madrid and Borussia Monchengladbach does not end up in a draw.
“Inter played one of those games that make their players grow,” he began his analysis whilst present in the studios of Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia.
“Bastoni found himself with the ball in the middle and held it until he got the foul. Bastoni will come out magnified from this match, Barella has already taken the path of a midfielder of world class calibre.”
Condo then went on to offer Inter some advice ahead of next week’s Champions League group stage finale which comes at home to Ukrainian powerhouses Shakhtar Donetsk, who they drew 0-0 with earlier on in the group stage.
“The Inter group is a group of crazy people. If I can give Inter a suggestion, take a 1-0 lead with Shakhtar and keep it there.”
