Inter were the only Italian club to not progress past the group stage in the UEFA Champions League or UEFA Europa League this season but it could prove to be a blessing in disguie for Inter according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

Inter crashed out of the UEFA Champions League and European football entirely on Wednesday night as they finished rock bottom of their group having picked up just six points from a possible 18.

The report highlights that Inter will not have any European commitments for the remainder of the season and in the past when Antonio Conte has only had to deal with the league and national cup competition, he has led the team he was in charge of to title glory.

In the 2013/14 season, Juventus were eliminated at the UEFA Champions League group stage and Conte led the Bianconeri club to Serie A glory.

Moreover, the report highlights that in his first season at Chelsea the Premier League club were not in Europe at all and he won the Premier League title.
