Noted Italian football journalist Enzo Bucchioni has shared his belief that Inter manager Antonio Conte may not remain in charge of the club past the end of this season even if he wins the Serie A title.

Conte has come under fire in the media following Inter’s elimination from the UEFA Champions League group stage a few days ago and whilst many reports have stated Inter are not considering parting ways with him, there are some reports that have began to suggest possible successors to him.

“To save the season and face, he must go and win the Scudetto and then, perhaps, there will be a separation anyway,” he began his latest editorial piece for Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb.

“The discourse, however, will resurface if Inter does not soon become the protagonist at least in Serie A and given that the future is now, according to rumours, Simone Inzaghi, a coach Marotta likes, would be in the sights of the Nerazzurri management. Marotta wanted him when he was at Juve and he would be affordable.”

Inzaghi is out of contract with Lazio at the end of the season meaning if Inter part ways with Conte they could avoid having to pay any compensation to bring him in, provided he does not agree to a new contract with the Italian capital city club, who he has managed since 2016.
