Former Lazio forward Bruno Giordano discussed Inter’s early elimination from the Champions League and if the Nerazzurri have a Plan B in an interview with Italian radio broadcaster TMW Radio yesterday.

“No, because we didn’t see it. Conte continued to play the same way, even in the final he had to push and not find balance. I would like to know why he always just puts Eriksen in the end.

“Why does he want to show that even with him they don’t win? Even the other day he tried, he seems to me a player of a unique professionalism.”

He thought that the squad did have the necessary international experience.

“Lukaku plays with Belgium, Lautaro plays with Argentina and Messi, Vidal made history with the Chilean national team. Perisic won the Champions League last year. For sure, if a coach makes a mistake, the players have to bring the game home.

“They had a group within reach, but in the end brought home only 6 points. But in Europe Conte’s path has been the same with Juve and Chelsea. In Europe, something else is needed, those who play at five hardly win.”

Inter’s painful 0-0 draw with Ukrainian champions Shakhtar Donetsk earlier this week confirmed their elimination from the Champions League in fourth place, bottom of their group.

The Milanese club will now be able to only focus on domestic competitions, the league and the Coppa Italia, with some suggesting that the team should be looking to win the league title now.

Inter are currently third in Serie A after 10 games, sitting on 21 points, five behind league leaders and rivals AC Milan.

Their next game is against 12th place Cagliari tomorrow afternoon, an important game for the squad to show their reaction to their elimination from Europe.

The Milanese club have won their last three consecutive league outings.
