Last night’s match between Inter and Napoli exposed one of the limitations of Inter’s team and that is the lack of a striker capable of giving the starters a breather according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Il Giorno.
Inter only had Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez available as strikers last night with both Andrea Pinamonti and Alexis Sanchez out injured and this meant that Lautaro had to be replaced by a wing-back Achraf Hakimi which led to a system change.
Graziano Pelle is a player who has been linked with Inter lately given the fact his contract with Chinese Super League outfit Shandong Luneng is due to expire at the end of this month.
The player wants to return to his homeland after four years in Asia and the report points out that he is close to the sort of player that Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta and sporting director Piero Ausilio would like to bring in to fulfil the role of deputy Lukaku.
It is also worth noting that Pelle and Inter manager Antonio Conte have a good relationship with one another.
