Inter manager Antonio Conte will ask Inter club management to bring Atalanta captain Alejandro ‘Papu’ Gomez to the club in next month’s transfer window according to a report from Italian football journalist Matteo Marani.
Gomez’s future with Atalanta is widely up in the air and many reports have stated that he will leave the club next month after a breakdown in relations between him and Atalanta coach Gian Piero Gasperini.
Inter are one of several clubs to have been strongly linked with signing the 32-year-old Argentine national team player and as per Marani, former Italian national team boss Conte will ask for him to be signed.
“I think that Conte will ask for Papu Gomez in January: Atalanta want about €10 million, it would be a bearable investment for the Nerazzurri and he would give that qualitative contribution that is fundamental for the team,” Marani explained whilst present in the studios of Italian broadcaster Sky Sport 24, earlier on today.
Gomez, who is under contract with the Bergamo based club until the end of next season, has made 16 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored five goals and tallied four assists.
