Former Inter striker Aldo Serena has shared his belief that signing Paris Saint-Germain’s Leandro Paredes is not a priority for Inter ahead of the January transfer window opening in the next few days.
“In all honesty, given Inter’s midfield, he doesn’t seem to be a priority to me, he would certainly complete an already solid base and give more options,” he explained in an interview with Italian daily newspaper Corriere della Sera, which appeared in today’s print edition of the Milanese newspaper.
Serena then went on to elaborate on his thoughts regarding Argentine national team representative Paredes.
“Now Inter are playing with a lower defensive line, Paredes being there in the Inter half would increase the quality and help the ball, which sometimes moves too slow, to move.
“He could come in handy as an alternative to Brozovic and it would mean Conte would not be forced to field Barella or Vidal in front of the defence.”
Serena then went on to share his belief about what Inter really need and suggested a player that he thinks would do well at the Nerazzurri.
“Inter are strong but a bit gloomy, they lack inspiration, they need a player with free mind and need to be able to take risks, so I think Gervinho would do very well, he would help unlock certain situations.”
In conclusion Serena shared his thoughts with regard to the race for the Serie A title this season: “Inter are stronger than AC Milan in terms of individuals and are built for the Scudetto, while Juve is a longer term project, with high quality young players like Chiesa and Kulusevski.”
Serena had two spells with Inter. The first lasted between 1978 and 1985 and the second spell was between 1987 and 1991.
He made 223 appearances across all competitions to date for the club, in which he managed to score 78 goals and provided 12 assists for his teammates.
