Lazio have joined Inter in the race to sign Atalanta captain Alejandro ‘Papu’ Gomez according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset, which was broadcast a short time ago.
Lazio are in the process of trying to find a replacement for Felipe Caicedo who appears set for a move to Fiorentina and Lazio sporting director Igli Tare is thinking of replacing the Ecuadorian forward with Gomez.
The capital city club would be prepared to make a two year contract offer to Gomez with a salary of €2 million a year, which is in fact less than what Inter have offered.
Gomez is widely expected to leave Atalanta in the upcoming January transfer window following a breakdown in relations.
The 32-year-old Argentine, who is under contract with Atalanta until 2023 and has been frozen out as of late has made 16 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored five goals and tallied four assists.
