Inter are the team most structured to win the Serie A title at the end of this season according to former Juventus and Italian national team central midfielder Claudio Marchisio.

“I see Conte’s first Juventus side in this AC Milan side. They are not the strongest team, but they are showing, even in difficulties, that there is a resistant and rock solid dressing room,” he explained in an interview with Italian daily newspaper Tuttosport, which appeared in yesterday’s print edition.

He continued: “They manage to stay united. These are important signs. Maldini has worked very well, Ibra was decisive, Pioli is proving to be a great coach, but it is the group as a while that can make the difference.”

Marchisio then went on to express his thoughts on Inter, who are currently sitting in second place and are viewed as many pundits’ favourites to win the title this term.

“Inter are the team most structured to win, as we have seen in the last period, even with performances not up to the level of the squad, they have won a series of games and the gap between themselves and Juventus is starting to be important.

He then proceeded to reveal what he believes to be the secret behind Inter’s success as of late.

“Do you know what the secret is? Conte staying in charge, despite the troubles in the Summer. In a season like this, having a manager staying is a monstrous advantage over those who have changed managers.

“Today Conte is exploiting the foundations laid last year.”

Next he dismissed the notion that Conte has changed this season: “I heard Vidal say that he has changed compared to when he was at Juventus, maybe that is true but he seems the same to me, especially with his post-match statements.”

Marchisio, who played for Juventus for 13 years between 2005 and 2018, then went on to admit that it is good for all of Italian football that the two Milanese clubs, who have had a few difficult years, are getting back to previous levels.

“The recovery in Milan is an important signal for Italian football and in any case, as a spectator, it is a good to watch because between January and February there could be sensational twists and turns. ‘

“Although you must beware about giving up on Juventus. It is the most serious mistake that can be made.”
