Inter’s plans to offload Radja Nainggolan and Christian Eriksen in the January transfer window have received the backing of former Palermo sporting director Rino Foschi.

Nainggolan has already returned to Cagliari on a loan deal until the end of the season, having hardly featured under Antonio Conte since returning to the club last summer.

Eriksen remains on the Nerazzurri’s books but is all but certain to leave before the end of the mid-season window, having started just five times this season.

Speaking to TuttoMercatoWeb, Foschi said: “Nainggolan’s return to Cagliari is a very intelligent deal, just as Inter’s sale of Eriksen will be.

“I expect Inter to do something in January, whereas I don’t think AC Milan will make big moves because they’ve already done some very good business recently.

“You’re never looking to change or overhaul too much in January and this year it will be a market that’s all about doing what you can afford.

Foschi was also asked about reported Inter target Papu Gomez but suggested the Argentine forward could end up moving to a different club in Serie A.

He added: “Gomez needs to leave but Atalanta can’t let him go for free, they would have got €10 million for him in the summer and he’ll be appealing to a lot of clubs.

“I’d recommend him to a team like Fiorentina, although there’s already another older player there like Ribery, but he could make the difference for Lazio as well.”

Inter are one point behind league leaders AC Milan as they prepare to return to Serie A action with the visit of Crotone on Sunday.

Antonio Conte’s side will be chasing an eighth straight win in the league after finishing 2020 on a high.
