Romelu Lukaku will be rested for Inter’s match at Sampdoria on Wednesday after sustaining a thigh injury against Crotone yesterday, according to reports in the Italian press.
As per today’s print edition of Corriere dello Sport, the Belgian’s condition will be analysed by the club’s medical staff tomorrow after he was forced off in the dominant 6-2 win at San Siro, shortly after scoring the Nerazzurri’s fourth goal.
The problem is thought to be ‘not too alarming’ for Inter but in any case he will not be risked with tricky matches against Roma and Juventus on the horizon.
Alexis Sanchez will partner Lautaro Martinez up front at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, having shaken off his own injury concerns during the winter break.
Lukaku should be fit enough for a place on the bench against Sampdoria and is expected to return to the starting XI at the Stadio Olimpico against Roma on Sunday.
He made his 70th appearance across all competitions for Inter yesterday and grabbed his 50th goal for the club, making him the fastest player in Inter history to hit 50 goals.
