Paris Saint-Germain and Argentina midfielder Leandro Paredes has rejected a move to Inter in January, according to Italian media reports.
As per a report in today’s print edition of La Repubblica, the former Roma player does not wish to join the Nerazzurri because he would like to stay in France with his current employers and try and win the UEFA Champions League.
Inter wanted to sign Paredes as part of a swap deal that would have seen them put forward Christian Eriksen but this report would suggest that any such deal is dead in the water.
26-year-old Paredes has been with PSG since joining from Zenit St Petersburg in January 2019 and he is under contract with them through to the end of the 2022-23 season.
This season Paredes has made a total of 12 appearances across all competitions to date in which he has failed to make any goal contributions.
His countryman Mauricio Pochettino replaced Thomas Tuchel as head coach last weekend and it is possible this has also played a part in Paredes’ thinking, although the report does not discuss this.
