Inter’s legendary former striker Christian Vieri has lauded Romelu Lukaku after the Belgian scored his 50th goal for the Nerazzurri last weekend.
Lukaku hit the fourth goal in a 6-2 win over Crotone on Sunday, as Antonio Conte’s side stormed to an eighth consecutive win in Serie A.
Vieri scored 123 goals in 190 appearances during six seasons at Inter and has never made any secret of him being one of Lukaku’s biggest admirers.
“His goal against Crotone is the kind of goal we used to score at Inter, but we had to put in three times the effort and get our elbows out more than players do nowadays” he explained whilst speaking on his Twitch Channel ‘Bobo TV’ today.
“Conte has brought Lukaku to an exceptional physical level.
“He is a goal machine and has more responsibility than he had in Manchester, he is the symbol of this team.
“In Italy you learn how to move, you will gain experience.
“Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez are a devastating strike partnership, they are perfect for each other.”
Vieri was then asked what Inter should do when it comes to reinforcing the midfield during the January transfer window.
“In midfield Inter had Radja Nainggolan, why did they make him go away? You also have to see who you are going to get,” he asked.
A new attacker has also been heavily talked about in the media and the former Italian national team player shared his views on attacking reinforcements.
“For Conte and his ideas, you need to have an extra striker and not another player like Christian Eriksen,” Vieri said.
In his stint with the club, Vieri made a total of 190 appearances across all competitions and scored a highly impressive 122 goals and also provided nine assists.
