It is currently impossible for Inter to sign Papu Gomez from Atalanta in January, according to Italian media reports.
As per today’s print edition of Corriere dello Sport, the Bergamo-based club are looking for €8-10 million to offload their club captain, who has been widely tipped with an exit during this month’s transfer window.
Inter cannot afford to invest in Gomez until they sell other players, meaning a deal will only be possible in theory during the final few days of the window.
Gomez has been strongly linked with a move to the Nerazzurri and recent media reports have even claimed that Inter and the former Catania player have already reached an agreement in principle over a contract.
This season 32-year-old Gomez has made 16 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has managed to score a total of five goals and provide four assists for his teammates.
He is on the way out in Bergamo after falling out with head coach Gian Piero Gasperini during a UEFA Champions League match in November.v
