Antonio Conte is blocking Andrea Pinamonti from leaving Inter to join Benevento, according to a report in Italy tonight.
The newly-promoted club had reached an agreement with the Nerazzurri for a paid initial loan with an option to buy for €15-16 million, along with an unspecified percentage of any future transfer fee.
But, as per transfer expert Alfredo Pedulla, Conte will not let the deal go through until he has greater reassurances over Inter’s ability to secure a replacement before the end of the January transfer window.
The Nerazzurri cannot spend for signings until they complete sales, with Christian Eriksen another candidate to leave, but on the other hand it seems Conte does not want to risk losing players before he is certain they can be replaced, for numerical reasons.
Inter’s head coach told reporters in no uncertain terms following yesterday’s draw at Roma that he does not expect the club to complete any signings in January due to financial restrictions.
