A contract renewal with Inter is on the horizon for highly-rated young centre-back Alessandro Bastoni, according to an Italian media report today.

Tuttosport, via their print edition, report that Bastoni’s agent visited Inter’s headquarters yesterday for contract talks and a contract extension until 2025 is expected for the Italian national team representative.

Bastoni, 21, is currently under contract with Inter until 2023 and as part of the new deal, he will likely receive a salary increase on his current circa €1 million net a year wages.

Whilst Bastoni could sign the contract soon, the report highlights that he may not get the salary increase until next season given Inter’s budget problems.

Bastoni is one of several players Inter are reportedly working on a renewal for but the club do not want to burden themselves with loads of salary increases.

This season the former Atalanta defender has made 20 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has provided two assists for teammates.
