Benevento’s sporting director has confirmed they are in talks with Inter over a deal for Andrea Pinamonti, but warns a transfer could be difficult.

Antonio Conte wants to replace the Italy under-21 international with a more experienced fourth-choice striker in the January transfer window, although Inter have no budget at present to sign players.

Pinamonti has been linked with Crotone, Parma, Bologna and Eintracht Frankfurt in recent weeks but it seems all but certain he will join Pippo Inzaghi’s side now, if he moves anywhere in January.

Intercepted by SportItalia tonight, Pasquale Foggia told reporters: “It’s a difficult deal, I like Pinamonti and we’ve spoken to Inter already.

“Let’s see, they’re also considering their options at the moment.

“We’re in daily contact with Inter, we’re here if a deal can be secured.

“Obviously we’d like to sign him for the second half of this season if possible, we still need another 19 points to reach the magical 40 mark.”

Pinamonti has made just three appearances in all competitions this season, failing to score any goals or provide any assists, and has been out of action since mid-November when he sustained an ankle injury on international duty.

He will again be out of the Nerazzurri’s squad when Inter play Fiorentina tomorrow in their Coppa Italia last 16 tie.
