Samir Handanovic is to retain his place as Inter’s starting goalkeeper for this afternoon’s match away to Fiorentina in the Coppa Italia, as per an Italian media report today.
Corriere dello Sport, via their print edition, report that the veteran Slovenian shot-stopper will remain between the sticks despite reports yesterday suggesting coach Antonio Conte could hand Ionut Andrei Radu his seasonal debut at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.
While Handanovic is likely to stay in the team, despite the strong criticism he has been subjected to lately off the back of several mistakes, Conte could make as many as eight change to the side that started in Sunday’s 2-2 draw away to Roma.
He is making the changes partly out of necessity and partly because of this weekend’s Derby d’Italia match-up in Serie A against arch rivals Juventus.
Today’s match between Fiorentina and Inter at the Stadio Artemio Franchi is scheduled to kick off at 15:00 local time.
Inter will meet city rivals AC Milan in the quarter-finals if they beat Cesare Prandelli’s side, after the Rossoneri edged past Torino on penalties last night.
